Negativity bias is a cognitive bias where people pay more attention to, remember more strongly, or are more affected by negative experiences or information compared to positive or neutral ones. This bias can shape decision-making, perception, memory, and emotional responses, often leading people to weigh negative events more heavily in their judgments.
For example, a person might vividly remember receiving negative feedback at work while quickly forgetting several compliments. In news consumption, people often focus more on negative headlines than on positive stories, even when the latter are equally important.
